Your Microsoft Office Live Small Business account is associated with one Web site. For this Web site, you can choose to use the free domain that you receive when you sign up, purchase a new domain that reflects the name of your business, or redirect an existing domain to Office Live Small Business.

You can also purchase additional domain names to send traffic to your Office Live Small Business Web site. For example, imagine that you own a coffee company. When you first opened the business, you called it Contoso, Ltd., but you recently changed the business's name to Fourth Coffee. Because some customers still remember the old name, you decide to buy two domains: www.contoso.com and www.fourthcoffee.com.

With Office Live Small Business, when you own more than one domain, customers can type any of those URLs to reach your Web site at its main, or primary, domain. In addition, traffic for all of your domains is combined together and tracked under the primary domain name.

The first time that you purchase a new domain name or redirect an existing domain name, that domain name automatically becomes the primary domain for your site. Continuing our earlier example, if you buy the domain www.fourthcoffee.com, it automatically becomes the primary domain for your Web site. If you later purchase the domain name www.contoso.com, all traffic to that site is automatically redirected to www.fourthcoffee.com. If you want to change the primary domain for your Web site, you can do so.

Change your primary domain

1. On the Office Live Small Business Home page, at the top, click More, and then click Domain Manager. The Domain Manager page appears.
2. In the Domain list, find the domain name that you want to use as your primary domain. In the Options column, click Make Primary, and then click OK.

 Note   Changing your primary domain name does not affect the contents of your Web site. It will affect your site's rankings in search engines, and it resets data collection for current site reports. For more information, see Troubleshoot issues after changing your domain name.
