Increase visual interest with a slide show

Adding images to your Microsoft Office Live Web site will make it more attractive to visitors. A great way to organize many of those images, particularly if they are related, is to put them into a slide show. For example, you might have a slide show that contains pictures of the products that your company sells, and then site visitors can watch the slide show to help them decide exactly which product they want to buy.

Slide shows are organized into albums, each of which can contain 50 images. You can add as many albums as you want to your site.

Create an album

To add an image to a slide show, the image must first be in your Image Gallery. For information about using the Image Gallery, see Using pictures on your Web site.

  1. Sign in to Microsoft Office Live, and then, on the left navigation bar, click WebSite.
  2. In the list of Web pages on your site, click Edit next to the page where you want to add the images.
  3. Place your cursor where you want to add the slide show.
  4. Click Module, and then click Slideshow. The Slide Show module appears.

  5. Do one or more of the following:
    • In Album name, type the name that you want to appear at the top of the slide show on your Web page.
    • In Slide interval, choose the time period for how long you want each image to be displayed.
    • By default, controls appear at the bottom of the slide show to allow site visitors to control the speed of the slide show. If you don't want visitors to have this control, clear the Show slide show controls check box.
  6. In the Images list, click an image that you want to include in the slide show, type a caption if you want, and then click Add. Repeat this step for each image that you want to appear in the slide show.
  7. Use the Move up and Move down buttons to arrange the images in the order that you want them to appear.

Resize or wrap text around an album

Another simple way to give your site has a polished look is to adjust the size of the slide show, and then to set the way that text wraps around it.

  1. On the left navigation bar, click WebSite.
  2. In the list of Web pages on your site, click Edit next to the page that contains the slide show.
  3. To resize the slide show, click the anchor in the bottom right of the slide show, and then drag it until it is the size that you want.
  4. To choose a text wrapping option, right-click the slide show, and then choose either Float left, Float right, or No text wrapping.

It doesn't take a degree in Web site design to achieve an attractive and professional looking site. Little touches like adding a slide show can make a significant impression on visitors to your site.
