If you want to figure out how much spam your organization is receiving, or how your Office 365 mailboxes, sites, and Lync are being used, see the Reports section of Office 365.
- On the Office 365 admin center page, in the left pane, click Reports.
On the Reports page, the Overview tab has a list of reports you can view. You can use information from these reports to identify issues and filter data. Click other tabs to see reports for Mail, Protection, Rules, DLP (data loss prevention), Lync, and SharePoint. You may see different reports depending on what services your organization is subscribed to.
When you click a report name, on the report graph you can:
- Filter the data. To see only the data you are interested in, use the drop-down filters above the graph, or the time-span indicators below the graph.
- See related information. For some reports, there is additional information in a table below the graph. Related reports are linked to from the thumbnail-sized pictures to the right of the main graph.

Download and modify mail protection reports in Excel
You can view, save, and modify data in Excel for the mail protection reports if you have Exchange Online. If you see a trend or an anomaly in the summary data, you can then click through from the summary to the detail tabs to view the individual messages that contributed to the summary. For more information, see Mail Protection Reports for Office 365.
- On the Overview page, under Download your reports, click Mail protection reports (Excel).
- You need to be running Excel 2013 to access these reports. You can then refer to this data in PowerPoint presentations; see Use charts and graphs in your presentation.

Additional SharePoint Online reports
The SharePoint Online service offers several types of reporting and maintenance tools:
- Audit site collections. Site admins can use the audit feature of SharePoint Server 2013 to track which users have taken what actions on the sites, content types, lists, libraries, list items, and library files of site collections. Site admins can configure what events on a site get audited, as well as manage the size of the audit log. For more information, see Configure audit settings for a site collection and View audit log reports.
- Export eDiscovery content and create reports. For eDiscovery, you can create reports about content relevant to a case, or identify the contents of and any search indexing issues with the export.
- View error logs for content type publishing. You can identify errors in content type publishing by using either the Content type service application error log, which captures publishing error information for subscriber sites, or the Content type publishing error log report, which captures publishing error information for a site.
- View properties of a site collection. SharePoint Online admins can access a list of information about each site collection. This specific information includes a list of site administrators, the number of subsites, quotas and storage usage, and the default URL and title.
- View usage and search reports. Provides reports on common usage-related questions such as what the top queries are on your site per day or per month, how many search queries are users performing on average, how often are query rules firing, how often are people clicking promoted results, and more.
- Monitor apps for your SharePoint Online environment. As a SharePoint Online admin, you can monitor information such as app usage and error information for the apps that are in use in your SharePoint Online environment.

Additional Exchange Online reports
There are additional reporting features available from the Exchange admin center:
- Learn more about auditing reports. Use the Auditing page in the Exchange admin center to troubleshoot configuration issues by tracking specific changes made by administrators and to help you meet regulatory, compliance, and litigation requirements.
- Track Messages with Delivery Reports. Delivery Reports is a message tracking tool in the Exchange admin center that you can use to search for delivery status on email messages sent to or from users in your organization's address book, with a certain subject.
- Run Reports for Voice Mail Calls. Unified Messaging (UM) call reports provide information about the calls forwarded to or placed by UM. Use these reports to monitor, troubleshoot, and report on UM for your organization.
- Trace an Email Message. Message trace allows you to follow email messages as they travel through your Exchange Online organization. You can determine if an email message was received, rejected, deferred, or delivered by the service.
