Let's create summer greeting letter using Word tables

In Word, you can create tables.
Moreover, you can create documents with not only text, but also with Clip Art and photographs you insert.

Reading this article, you will learn to create a letter using a table. How to create a summer greeting letter is explained in this example. This article consists of the following three pages.

Let's set the page setup

First, set the paper size and then let's prepare to create the postcard.

  1. Click Size in Page Setup on the Page Layout tab, and then click Letter.

    The paper size is set to Letter.

  2. Set the margins.

    Click Margin in Page Setup on the Page Layout tab, and then click Narrow.

  3. Type in a greeting and change the font. Here, we'll use Arial which is perfect for a seasonal greeting.

Tip: Let's change the font

Let's change to a font that better suites the content of the greeting.
In Word, you can change not only the font, but also the color and size of the text.

For information on changing the font, refer to "Let's format some text".

Let's create a table

Create a table. Tables can be used not only to display data more easily, but also to adjust layout.
In this example, we'll use a table to adjust the layout of a summer greeting letter, which contains a photograph.

  1. Click Table in Table on the Insert tab.

    Click Table

  2. Drag to select the number of rows and columns you need for the table you'll create.

    In this example, select two rows and one column.

  3. Type in the greeting in the cell in the second row.

Let's change the border formatting

You can set the thickness and shape of the table's borders and show or hide them.
In this example, let's turn off the table borders.

  1. Drag to select the entire table.

  2. Click the Borders' Show Borders Menu in Table Styles on the Design tab.

  3. Click No Border.
