The Microsoft Easy Assist client has a streamlined design that puts the focus on what you are troubleshooting. There are many ways you can share and request control of a customer’s desktop. This section talks about requesting sharing, requesting control, and sharing your desktop or program.
During sessions, a support person can request desktop sharing and then take control of a participant’s desktop, or they can share their own desktop.
To request sharing and then take control of the desktop
- Click Tools, click Request Sharing.
- A Waiting for response from “user name”… dialog box appears. When the participant clicks OK to Share Desktop or Share a Program, you are able to view the participant’s desktop or program.
- To take control of the desktop sharing session, on the You have been given control of the sharing session dialog box, click OK.
- Click OK on the You have been given control of the sharing session dialog box, to take control of the desktop sharing session.
Note To take control of a customer’s desktop, first you must Request Sharing and then you can Request Control.
To share your Desktop with session participants
- Click Tools, and then click Share My Desktop, Start.
- On the Sharing dialog box, click YES.
To stop sharing your Desktop with session participants
- Click Tools, and then click Share My Desktop, Stop.
To Share the view of a program with session participants
- Click Tools, and then click Share a Program, Select.
- In the Share Program dialog box, select the program you want to share, and then click OK.
To Stop Sharing view of an programs with session participants
- Click Tools, and then click Share an Program, Stop.
