If you have published your form to a
form library (form library: A folder in which a collection of forms based on the same template is stored and shared. Each form in a form library is associated with user-defined information that is displayed in the content listing for that library.) on a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services
site, you can access the form template (form template: In InfoPath, a file or set of files that defines the data structure, appearance, and behavior of a form.) directly from that form library and edit it in Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003.
Note Some changes made to a form template can result in data loss from existing forms that are based on that form template.
For example, if you remove a control in a form template that collected specific data, the control will no longer appear in existing forms that are based on that form template, and the data will be lost. To prevent
compatibility issues with existing forms, republish the new form template to a different location.
- By using a Web browser, navigate to the form library.
- Under Actions on the page that displays the form library, click Modify settings and columns.
- In the General Settings section on the Customize page, click Edit Template in the Template field.
The form template will open in InfoPath.
- Make the changes you want, and then click Save
on the Standard toolbar.
Tip
To quickly find and open a form library's form template in InfoPath, click
Open from SharePoint Site on the File menu while in design mode (design mode: The InfoPath design environment in which you can create or modify a form template.).
