Applies to: Microsoft InfoPath 2007

What do you want to do?

Remove a template part from the Controls task pane

After you install a template part (template part: A portion of a form template that can be saved for reuse in multiple form templates. A typical template part consists of controls and a data source, and may also include features such as data connections, data validation, and rules.) in design mode, it is available in the Controls task pane for any form template that you create. To remove a template part from the Controls task pane, you must uninstall it by using the Add or Remove Custom Controls dialog box.

Note   Deleting a template part (.xtp) file from your computer does not remove it from the Controls task pane.

  1. Open any form template.
  2. If the Controls task pane is not visible, click More Controls on the Insert menu, or press ALT+I, C.
  1. At the bottom of the Controls task pane, click Add or Remove Custom Controls.
  2. In the Add or Remove Custom Controls dialog box, select the template part that you want to remove, and then click Remove.
  3. When prompted to remove the template part, click Yes, and then click OK.

  1. Open the form template that contains the template part that you want to delete.

Note   Template parts always appear inside section controls.

  1. Press DELETE.

The template part is deleted from the view.

Note   When you delete a template part from a form template, any fields (field: An element or attribute in the data source that can contain data. If the field is an element, it can contain attribute fields. Fields store the data that is entered into controls.) and groups (group: An element in the data source that can contain fields and other groups. Controls that contain other controls, such as repeating tables and sections, are bound to groups.) that are associated with the template part and its controls remain visible in the Data Source task pane. You need to delete these fields and groups separately. In addition, the template part continues to appear as an option in the Controls task pane unless you remove it by using the preceding procedure.
