Joining the Meeting

Before you can participate in a Live Meeting, you must connect to both Live Meeting Web Access and the meeting audio. If this is the first time you are using Live Meeting Web Access on this computer, take a moment to verify your configuration.

ShowVerifying Your Web Browser Configuration

Before you use Office Live Meeting Web Access, you must make sure that your Web browser is properly configured. (See Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 system requirements.) Verify the following:

  • Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (JVM) Java Run-Time Environment (RTE) is enabled. (To see what Java RTE and version you are running, at a command prompt, type java -version.)

  1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
  2. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
  3. In the Settings list, under Java, select the option for your Java RTE.
  4. Restart your computer.
  • All pop-up blockers are turned off, both within your browser and in any other Web-based applications running on your computer.

  • In Internet Explorer, click Tools, point to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Turn Off Pop-up Blocker.
  • If your network uses a proxy server, your browser is configured to either identify the proxy or bypass it.

  1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
  2. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Connections tab.
  3. Click LAN Settings.
  4. In the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings dialog box, in the Proxy Server area, configure Internet Explorer to either use or bypass your proxy server, and then click OK.
  5. In the Internet Options dialog box, click OK.

ShowJoining a Meeting Using Office Live Meeting Web Access

  1. In the meeting invitation, click Join the meeting.
  2. On the Install Microsoft Office Live Meeting client or use Microsoft Office Live Meeting Web Access page, under Use Live Meeting Web Access (fastest), click Accept and Use.
  3. On the Join Meeting page, type your name as you want it to appear to the other participants, and then click Join Meeting.
  4. If your browser asks you to trust the signed applet from Microsoft, click Yes. Office Live Meeting Access appears in its own browser window. The Meeting Entry page remains open in the background. Keep this window open in case you are disconnected from the meeting and need to re-enter it.

ShowConnecting to the Meeting Audio

Live Meeting Web Access users participate in the audio portion of a meeting by using telephone conferencing. After you join a meeting, you can have the telephone conference center call you, or you can dial into the telephone conference center and provide the participant code.

 Note   Computer audio is not available to participants who are using Live Meeting Web Access.

ShowTo have the telephone conference center call you

  1. Click Voice.
  2. In the Phone number text boxes, type your country code, area code, and number.
  3. Click Connect. The telephone conference center will call you at the number you provided.

ShowTo call into the telephone conference center

  1. Click Voice.
  2. Click Options, and then click View Call-in details.
  3. The Call-In Details window shows the conference call number and participant code. Use your phone to call the conference center and enter the participant code when prompted.
