About timelines

ShowShow me an example

Use the Timeline template to quickly create horizontal or vertical timelines that illustrate milestones and intervals over the life of a project or process. Microsoft Office Visio timelines can display intervals of years, quarters, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds.

If you have Microsoft Project 2000 or later installed on your machine, you can import tasks and milestones from a Project (MPP) file to create a Visio timeline using the Import Timeline Wizard. And if you want to use the data from a Visio timeline to create a more detailed tracking schedule in Project, you can export it to a Project (MPP) file.

You can also expand a portion of a timeline, using the Expanded timeline shape, for more detail.
