ShowChange the alignment of text in a table cell

By default, Microsoft Word aligns text in a table (table: One or more rows of cells commonly used to display numbers and other items for quick reference and analysis. Items in a table are organized into rows and columns.) to the upper left of a cell (cell: A box formed by the intersection of a row and column in a worksheet or a table, in which you enter information.). You can change the alignment of text in a cell — both the vertical alignment (top, center, or bottom) and the horizontal alignment (left, center, or right).

  1. Click the cell that contains text you want to align.
  2. On the Tables and Borders toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and options that you use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, press ALT and then SHIFT+F10.), select the option for the horizontal and vertical alignment you want — for example, Align Bottom Center Button image or Align Top Right Button image.

Note   To display the Tables and Borders toolbar, point to Toolbars on the View menu, and then click Tables and Borders.
