When you publish (publish: To save a copy of a file in Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) format to a Web server.) your presentation as a Web page (Web page: A presentation saved in HTML format. Supporting graphics and other related files are stored in an associated folder when a presentation is saved as a Web page.), the notes and outline automatically appear in the Web browser. If you do not want them to appear, you can turn them off when you publish the page.

  1. In Microsoft Office PowerPoint, open the Web presentation you want to modify.
  2. On the File menu, click Save as Web page.
  3. Click Publish, and then do one of the following:

ShowHide both the outline and notes

    1. In the Publish as Web Page dialog box, click Web Options.
    2. On the General tab, clear the Add slide navigation controls check box, and then click OK.
    3. In the Publish as a Web Page dialog box, click Publish.

    ShowHide just the notes

    • Clear the Display speaker notes check box.
    • In the Publish as a Web Page dialog box, click Publish.

ShowTip

You can also temporarily hide or show the outline or notes for a presentation that has been published, when you view the presentation in a browser (browser: Software that interprets HTML files, formats them into Web pages, and displays them. A Web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, can follow hyperlinks, transfer files, and play sound or video files that are embedded in Web pages.).

Do one or both of the following:

  • To hide the Notes pane, click Notes at the bottom center of the browser window.

  • To hide the Outline pane, click Outline at the bottom left of the browser window.
