Select text
 

Do one of the following:

Description Action
Select a word. Double-click the word.
Select a paragraph and all its subordinate text.
Select all text on a slide. On the Outline tab in normal view, click the slide icon , and when the four-headed arrow appears, click.
Select the text in a placeholder, AutoShape (AutoShapes: A group of ready-made shapes that includes basic shapes, such as rectangles and circles, plus a variety of lines and connectors, block arrows, flowchart symbols, stars and banners, and callouts.), or text box (text box: A movable, resizable container for text or graphics. Use text boxes to position several blocks of text on a page or to give text a different orientation from other text in the document.). Place the insertion point in the object, and then press CTRL+A.
Select text in all placeholders in the presentation. Place the insertion point on the Outline tab, and then press CTRL+A.

ShowTip

If you drag to select only a few characters of a word and Microsoft PowerPoint selects the whole word, and you don't want it to, do this: On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Edit tab. Clear the When selecting, automatically select entire word check box. Then, drag to select the characters.
