Restore a picture to its original size

You can undo resizing and cropping (crop: To trim vertical or horizontal edges of an object. Pictures are often cropped to focus attention on a particular area.) changes that you made to your picture, restoring your picture to its original state.

  1. Select the picture you want to restore.
  2. On the Picture toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and options that you use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, click Customize on the Tools menu, and then click the Toolbars tab.), click Format Picture Button image.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To restore a resized picture to its original dimensions, click the Size tab, make sure the Lock aspect ratio check box is cleared, and then click Reset.

    • To restore a cropped picture to its original dimensions, click the Picture tab, and then click Reset.

Note  You will not be able to restore your work if you selected one of these options from the Compress Pictures dialog box: Web/Screen, Print, or Delete cropped areas of pictures.
