Edit data in a chart
 

Do one of the following:

ShowEdit data for a chart created in Microsoft PowerPoint with Microsoft Graph

  1. In PowerPoint, double-click the chart in which you want to edit data.
  2. Switch to the datasheet (datasheet: A table included with a chart that provides sample information showing where to type your own row and column labels and data.). If the datasheet is not visible, click View Datasheet Button image to display it.
  3. Click a cell, and then type the text or numbers you want.

    For information about working on the Microsoft Graph datasheet, click Microsoft Graph Help on the Help menu.

  4. To return to the slide, click outside the chart or datasheet.

Note  If you change existing text or values, the chart changes to reflect the new data.

ShowEdit data for a chart created in Microsoft Excel

  1. In PowerPoint, double-click the chart in which you want to edit data.

    The menus and toolbars change to show the Microsoft Excel menus and buttons.

  2. Click the tab for the sheet that contains the data for the chart— for example, Sheet1.
  3. Type the new data in the cells on the worksheet.

    For information about working with Microsoft Excel worksheets, click Microsoft Excel Help on the Help menu.

  4. To make sure that the chart is displayed in the PowerPoint presentation when you return to the slide, click the tab for the sheet that contains the chart— for example, Chart1.
  5. To return to the slide, click outside the chart.
