You can rearrange and modify toolbar buttons, menus, and menu commands by using the mouse or you can use the Rearrange Commands dialog box which is accessible using a keyboard menu. These tasks are identified as (keyboard accessible).
Do one or more of the following:
Delete a custom toolbar
- On the Tools menu, click Customize, and then click the Toolbars tab.
- In the Toolbars box, select the custom toolbar you want to delete.
- Click Delete.
Note You can't delete a built-in toolbar (built-in toolbar: A toolbar included with Microsoft Office programs; it is not created by the user.). When you select a built-in toolbar, the Reset button appears, which when clicked restores the toolbar to its default buttons, menus, and submenus.
Delete a menu from a toolbar
- On the Tools menu, click Customize.
- Make sure the toolbar you want to change is visible.
How?
- In the Customize dialog box, click the Toolbars tab.
- Select the check box for the toolbar you want to display.
- With the Customize dialog box open, drag the menu you want to delete off the toolbar.
- In the Customize dialog box, click Close.
Tip
When you delete a built-in menu, the menu is still in the Customize dialog box. However, when you delete a custom menu, it is permanently deleted. To remove a custom menu and save it for later use, create a toolbar for storing unused menus, move the menu to this storage toolbar, and then hide the storage toolbar.
Delete a menu from a toolbar (keyboard accessible)
- On the Tools menu, click Customize.
- Make sure the toolbar you want to change is visible.
How?
- In the Customize dialog box, click the Toolbars tab.
- Select the check box for the toolbar you want to display.
- In the Customize dialog box, click the Commands tab.
- Click Rearrange Commands.
- To delete a menu on the menu bar, click Toolbar, and then click Menu Bar in the Toolbar list.
To delete a menu on a toolbar, click Toolbar, and then click the toolbar that contains the menu in the Toolbar list.
- In the Controls list, click the menu you want to delete.
- Click Delete.
