Change the line spacing of a paragraph
- On the slide, select the paragraphs (paragraph: Text that has a carriage return (hard return) at the end of it, such as when you press ENTER. Each item in a bulleted or numbered list is a paragraph; a title or subtitle is also a paragraph.) whose spacing you want to change.
How?
- To select a single paragraph, click the paragraph.
- On the Format menu, click Line Spacing.
- Do any or all of the following:
- To change the spacing above and within a paragraph, under Line spacing, type or click the arrows to change the number.
- To change the spacing above a paragraph, under Before paragraph, type or click the arrows to change the number.
- To change the spacing below a paragraph, under After paragraph, type or click the arrows to change the number.
Tips
- Text AutoFit is on by default, so if you increase line spacing, text may resize in order to fit into the placeholder (placeholders: Boxes with dotted or hatch-marked borders that are part of most slide layouts. These boxes hold title and body text or objects such as charts, tables, and pictures.).
- You can also select text on the Outline tab in normal view and change the spacing. The effect appears on the slide.
- To change line spacing for an entire presentation, change the spacing on the slide master (slide master: The slide that stores information about the design template applied, including font styles, placeholder sizes and positions, background design, and color schemes.). To display the slide master, on the View menu, point to Master, and then click Slide Master.
