Renaming the blank.pot template

If you were using the name "blank presentation.pot" for your default template file in an earlier version of Microsoft PowerPoint, and then you upgraded to Office PowerPoint 2003, you'll get a message that the template file name must be changed to "blank.pot." This is the name by which Office PowerPoint 2003 recognizes your default template. The message asks if you'd like the file to be renamed now. Here are the effects of choosing Yes or No:

  • If you choose Yes, your default design template is renamed to "blank.pot," and the template is applied as the default for new presentations.
  • If you choose No, PowerPoint will not recognize your default template file, and it will apply the Office PowerPoint 2003 default styles to new presentations.
