- In normal view, display the presentation with the animations (animate: To add a special visual or sound effect to text or an object. For example, you can have your text bullet points fly in from the left, one word at a time, or hear the sound of applause when a picture is uncovered.) you want to re-order.
- On the Slide Show menu, click Custom Animation.
The effects appear in the Custom Animation list, (Custom Animation list: The list of animation sequences for a slide. Items are listed in the order in which they are added, and include icons that indicate timing in relation to other animation events.) top to bottom, in the order you apply them. The animated items are noted on the slide, in normal view, with a non-printing numbered tag that correlates to the effects in the list.
- In the Custom Animation
task pane (task pane: A window within an Office application that provides commonly used commands. Its location and small size allow you to use these commands while still working on your files.), select the item in the list that you want to move and drag it to another position in the list.
Note If you do not see the animation that you want to select in the list, make sure that each animation in the list is fully expanded.

Tip
Changes you make are reflected on the slide as well as in the list by renumbering each animated item on the slide. The numbers appear in gray boxes attached to the placeholder (placeholders: Boxes with dotted or hatch-marked borders that are part of most slide layouts. These boxes hold title and body text or objects such as charts, tables, and pictures.) of the animated item.
