Turn off automatic bulleted and numbered lists

Turn this setting off when you don't want lists to be automatically created after you use certain characters, such as an asterisk or tab, in text placeholders (placeholders: Boxes with dotted or hatch-marked borders that are part of most slide layouts. These boxes hold title and body text or objects such as charts, tables, and pictures.) on the slide.

  1. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options, and then click the AutoFormat As You Type tab.
  2. Under Apply As You Type, clear the Automatic bulleted and numbered lists check box.

ShowTip

You can also turn off this automatic setting or reverse the correction for one instance by clicking the AutoCorrect Options button Button image, which appears near the correction. On the button menu, click Undo Automatic Bullets to reverse the automatic bulleting or numbering, or click Stop Automatically Creating Lists to turn this setting off in the AutoCorrect dialog box.
