Format smiley faces and arrows as symbols

Applies to: Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003

When this setting is on and you type characters for various versions of a smiley face or an arrow, Microsoft PowerPoint automatically formats the characters as a symbol.

On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options, and then click the AutoFormat As You Type tab.
Select the Smiley faces :-) and arrows (==>) with special symbols check box.
