Move an object in small increments

  1. Select the objects (object: A table, chart, graphic, equation, or other form of information. Objects created in one application, for example spreadsheets, and linked or embedded in another application are OLE objects.) that you want to move.
  2. Do one of the following:

Notes

  • If you use the Nudge command and the Snap objects to grid option is turned on, the nudge distance is determined by the grid spacing. To turn this option off or to change the grid spacing, on the View menu, click Grids and Guides, and then make selections in the dialog box.
  • If you use the Nudge command and the Snap objects to grid option is turned off, the nudge distance is a 1-pixel (pixel: A single unit of measurement that your computer's display hardware uses to paint images on your screen. These units, which often appear as tiny dots, compose the pictures displayed by your screen.) increment.
  • If you press CTRL+ARROW keys, the nudge distance is the same 1-pixel increment.
  • What 1 screen pixel represents relative to the slide area depends on the zoom percentage. When zoomed in to 400%, 1 screen pixel is a relatively small nudge distance on the slide. When zoomed out to 25%, 1 screen pixel is a relatively larger nudge distance on the slide. Therefore, if you want to use smaller nudge distances to refine the placement of objects on a slide, zoom in and use the CTRL+ARROW keys.
