Enable instant message smart tags

  1. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options, and then click the Smart Tags tab.
  2. Select the Label text with smart tags check box to enable the options under Recognizers
  3. Select the Person Name (Outlook e-mail recipients) check box and if available, the Person Name (English) check box. See Notes below.

Notes

  • For the English version of Microsoft Office Word 2003, there are two smart tags a user can use if the persons name they type is on their contact list. They are the Person Name (English) and Person Name (Outlook e-mail recipients) smart tags. In international versions of Word 2003, only the Person name (Outlook e-mail recipients) option is present. In both English and international versions of Word, the Person Name (Outlook email recipients) option is turned on by default.
  • The Person name (Outlook e-mail recipients) smart tag only displays the smart tag when the name is resolved to an individual that was previously e-mailed from Outlook.
  • In Microsoft Office Excel 2003, the only option available is the Person name (Outlook e-mail recipients). This is not turned on by default; you have to manually turn that smart tag on.
