Microsoft Office 2007 programs such as Word and Excel are likely to be a 'must-have' when you buy a new PC. Office 2007 probably won’t automatically be part of your PC package, so don’t forget to ask for Office when you buy. Choose from one of these scenarios or see our general advice below.
In general, there are a couple of ways you can get Office for a new PC.
Option 1: Buy a full version of Office 2007 – no need to try first
You can buy a fully licensed copy of Office 2007 from Microsoft Store or from other online or local PC retailers.
Option 2: Try Office 2007 before you buy, using the pre-installed 60-day trial
Many new computers come with a free 60-day trial of Microsoft Office 2007, pre-installed. There are different trials available for home users and business users. These are;
- Consumer Trial: Installed on PCs typically suited to home users
- Office Ready PC trial: Installed on Office Ready PCs typically suited to business users
When you decide to buy you can convert the trial license to a fully licensed copy of Office, at any time during the 60-day trial.
How do these trial programmes compare?
*ESD (Electronic Store Download) versions of Office are available when you convert your trial online or when you buy through Microsoft Store
How to tell which trial you have installed

- You will see a wizard similar to the screenshots below which should indicate which trial you have.

The trial version I have installed is not the one I want
If the trial version you have pre-installed on your new PC does not let you trial the version of Office 2007 you want to try, don’t activate the trial from your desktop.You can download a trial from Office Online instead.
