My PowerPoint document takes a long time to print

Applies to
Microsoft Office PowerPoint® 2003

Symptoms

When you print a PowerPoint document, the printing takes longer than you expect it to.

Cause

There is a wide variety of possible causes for slow printing.

Resolution

Try any of the following:

  • Turn off background printing. (On the Tools menu, click Options, click the Print tab, and then clear the Background Printing check box.)
  • Ensure that your hard disk has at least 2 megabytes of free space.
  • While you are printing, exit any programs that you don't need to have open.

If printing is still too slow, you can find additional help at the Windows Help and Support Center. (On the Windows Start menu, click Help and Support, and then click Printing and faxing.)
