You've got a big presentation to do tomorrow and a lot of ground to cover. Your Microsoft Office Excel worksheets tell the story, but Microsoft Office PowerPoint® 2003 makes it easier to convey. It's a snap to import your worksheets into PowerPoint and turn them into a dynamic, clear presentation. And PowerPoint can automatically update any data that changes, so you always work with the most current information.

Screen Action Audio Script

PowerPoint 2003 is open, and a slide entitled Product Sales Overview is visible.

I need to create a PowerPoint slide for my team that shows the latest sales figures.

The scene changes to Excel 2003, where a chart is open in the worksheet.

Fortunately, I already have an Excel chart that I can use as the basis for my presentation.

The chart is selected, and the pointer opens the Edit menu and chooses Copy. The view switches back to PowerPoint, the right-click menu is opened, and Paste is selected. The Excel chart is now visible in the PowerPoint slide.

I simply copy the chart from Excel and paste it into PowerPoint.

The pointer double-clicks the chart, and the Query Refresh dialog box opens. The pointer clicks the Enable automatic refresh button, and the dialog box closes.

On the right side of the PowerPoint screen, the PivotTable Field List is now visible, displaying the fields that are included in the imported chart: Product, Customer, Qtr 1, Qtr 2, Qtr 3, and Qtr 4. Along the bottom of the chart, the worksheet tabs of the Excel data source are also visible.

The pointer clicks the Refresh button that has appeared on the slide below the chart, and the data on the chart is updated.

Since this chart gets its data directly from our corporate database, PowerPoint asks me if I want to automatically refresh the data.

This will ensure that my slide will have the latest sales figures no matter when I give my presentation.

I simply click the Automatic Refresh button and the latest sales figures are imported into my chart.

The pointer moves over the column that represents syrup sales.

The pointer clicks the slide outside of the chart, and the PivotTable Field List and Excel worksheet tabs disappear. Now the slide pane displays only the PowerPoint slide that will appear in the presentation.

Here the updated figures show that syrup sales have gone up for one of our reps.

Now everyone can view the latest sales figures whenever they need to.

And thanks to PowerPoint, they can do it at the click of a button.

When the data suddenly changes, my presentation will update itself automatically.

PowerPoint 2003 disappears. The animated text Experience your own great moments appears. Under it appears the URL http://www.microsoft.com/office.
