Apply Superscript and Subscript Formatting in PowerPoint 97/2000

You can apply superscript and subscript formatting in PowerPoint® 97/2000 presentations by doing the following:

  1. Select the text you want to apply the formatting to.
  2. On the Format menu, click Font.
  3. Under Effects, click the Superscript or Subscript check box.
You can change the amount of space between the superscript or subscript text and the baseline of the font by entering a number in the Offset box. Enter a positive number for superscript or a negative number for subscript.

Tip   You can quickly format super- or subscript text with the default offset values by using keyboard shortcuts. Select the text you want to format, and then press CTRL+EQUAL SIGN to apply subscript or CTRL+SHIFT+PLUS SIGN to apply superscript.
