Insert common symbols in PowerPoint 97/2000 presentations

When you want to show the symbol for degrees (°), Yen (¥), copyright (©), or others in a PowerPoint® 97/2000 presentation, use the Symbol command on the Insert menu.

To insert a symbol
  1. On the Insert menu, click Symbol.
  2. Click the symbol you want.
  3. Click Insert.

Tips

  • You can use the Symbol dialog box to preview the characters in other fonts - for example, the Wingdings or Webdings fonts. Click the arrow next to the Font box to see a list of the fonts on your computer. If you have one of the Wingdings or Webdings fonts, you can select it to see all the available characters in the font, and then insert the one you want.
  • To make sure the symbols display properly when you show the presentation on a computer that doesn't have the font you used, embed the font in your presentation. Only True Type fonts that are unrestricted in use can be embedded. Embedding a font increases the size of your presentation. To embed a font, click Save As on the File menu. Then, click the Tools menu in the toolbar at the top of the Save As dialog box. On the menu that appears, click Embed True Type fonts.
