Add information to every slide with PowerPoint 97/2000 footers
 

Use footers in PowerPoint® to show the date and time, the filename, or to add page numbers to every slide or handout. You can also insert special text, such as "Confidential" or a version number.

To add a footer

  1. On the View menu, click Header and Footer.
  2. Select the options you want on the tabs in the Header and Footer dialog box, as described below.
    Slide tab
    • Use the Date and time box to enter a Fixed time, or choose to have the date and time Update automatically each time your presentation is opened.
    • Number your slides to keep track of where you are in your presentation by clicking the Slide number box.
    • Make a custom footer in the Footer box. This is the place to put any special text, for example "Confidential" or the filename of the presentation.
    • Apply the footer to all of the slides except for the title slide by clicking the Don't show on title slide box.
    Notes and Handouts tab  
    • Use the Date and time box to enter a Fixed time, or choose to have the date and time Update automatically each time your presentation is opened.
    • Make a custom header in the Header box. This is the place to put any special text, for example the name of your company or project.
    • Number your pages by clicking the Page number box.
    • Make a custom footer in the Footer box. This is the place to put any special text, for example "Confidential" or the filename of the presentation.
  3. Click Apply to All to add the footer to your slides or handouts as specified.
