Use footers in PowerPoint® to show the date and time, the filename, or to add page numbers to every slide or handout. You can also insert special text, such as "Confidential" or a version number.
To add a footer
- On the View menu, click Header and Footer.
- Select the options you want on the tabs in the Header and Footer dialog box, as described below.
Slide tab
- Use the Date and time box to enter a Fixed time, or choose to have the date and time Update automatically each time your presentation is opened.
- Number your slides to keep track of where you are in your presentation by clicking the Slide number box.
- Make a custom footer in the Footer box. This is the place to put any special text, for example "Confidential" or the filename of the presentation.
- Apply the footer to all of the slides except for the title slide by clicking the Don't show on title slide box.
Notes and Handouts tab
- Use the Date and time box to enter a Fixed time, or choose to have the date and time Update automatically each time your presentation is opened.
- Make a custom header in the Header box. This is the place to put any special text, for example the name of your company or project.
- Number your pages by clicking the Page number box.
- Make a custom footer in the Footer box. This is the place to put any special text, for example "Confidential" or the filename of the presentation.
- Click Apply to All to add the footer to your slides or handouts as specified.
