Working with Business Planner Templates

Business Planner contains specially designed templates for Word and Excel. You can open the templates from Business Planner topic outlines or articles. You can also open the templates from Word or Excel by clicking New on the File menu, and then selecting a template from the Business Planner tab.

  • Template Instructions Instructions for working with Business Planner's templates are included in the nonprinting region at the top of each document or spreadsheet that you create. Also in the nonprinting region, there are links to a Business Planner article that explains in more detail how and when to use the template, and, if applicable, other templates that should be used prior to the current template. (The instructions and links in documents and spreadsheets created from Business Planner templates are not visible when you print the document.)
  • Web Links These links provide further resources to help you find the information you may need to complete the template. Web Links also provide you with further reading on topics that are related to the template.
  • Professional-looking documents Documents and spreadsheets you create from Business Planner templates can be used as part of your business plan. You can also create common business tools, such as a budget. Or you can quickly prepare important documents, such as Profit and Loss statements, for financial institutions and investors.
