Wrap text around tables in Word

Applies to
Microsoft Word 2000

In Word you have more than one way to wrap text around tables when you work on your documents.

Wrap existing text around a table

Text automatically wraps around a table when you insert it on the left or right margin in a document with existing text. In print layout view, use the Draw Table tool (Table menu) to insert a table on either the left or right margin of your page. After you complete the outside boundaries of the table, text wraps around the table.

Note   To remove text wrap and have text start below the table, click anywhere in the table. On the Table menu, click Table Properties, and then click the Table tab. Under Text wrapping, click None.

When you start with a blank page

When you insert a table onto a blank page, you can use Click and Type to wrap text around the table. In print layout view, use the Draw Table tool (Table menu) to insert a table on either the top left or top right margin of your page.

Move the I-beam pointer to the side of the table until you see the Right text wrap icon or the Left text wrap icon, then double-click and type. If you do not see the text wrap icons, you are not in an area when you can use Click and Type to wrap text.
