Alternative full text justification in Word

Applies to
Microsoft Word 2002

Text justification in Word may not always turn out as you expect it to. In Word, lines of text are justified by adding spaces. You may end up with sporadic spacing because spaces are added when long words are moved to the next line. However, if the default text justification does not meet your needs, there is an alternative available.

Justified Text - Before

Justified Text - After

To change the appearance of fully justified text

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Compatibility tab.
  2. In the Recommended options for list, click WordPerfect 6.x for Windows.
  3. Under Options, click to select the Do full justification like WordPerfect 6.x for Windows check box.

This alternative justification adds and removes spaces, which may result in more uniform spacing.
