Make your favorite working view the default in PowerPoint

Applies to
Microsoft Office PowerPoint® 2003
Microsoft PowerPoint® 2002

The default editing view in PowerPoint is the normal view, with the Slides and Outline tabs, notes pane, and slide pane displayed. But if you prefer a different default view — say, just the slide pane with no slide thumbnails, outline, or notes — you can select one. The default view you select is the view that PowerPoint will always open in.

To change the default view:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the View tab.
  2. Under Default View, select the view you want.

Note   If you select The view saved in the file, you will get the precise view you have saved with a given file whenever you open that file. When you open other files, the original default view (normal view with Slides and Outline tabs, slide pane, and notes pane) is displayed.
