Microsoft Office Groove 2007 and Microsoft Office Live Groove

To use Microsoft Office Groove 2007 or Microsoft Office Live Groove, you will need:

Component Requirement
Computer and processor 500 megahertz (MHz) processor or higher
Memory 256 megabyte (MB) RAM or higher
Hard disk 1 gigabyte (GB); a portion of this disk space will be freed after installation if the original download package is removed from the hard drive.
Drive CD-ROM or DVD drive
Display 1024x768 or higher resolution monitor
Operating system Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack (SP) 2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, or later operating system.1
Other Integration with Windows SharePoint Services requires connectivity to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 or Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. Built-in InfoPath Forms Tool requires Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007. Groove/messenger integration requires Windows Messenger 5.1 or later or Communicator 1.0 or later. Includes a 1 year subscription to the Groove relay service.1

Internet Explorer 6.0 or later, 32 bit browser only. Internet access (fees may apply).

1 Groove Folder synchronization and some other features not available on 64 bit operating system. The Office Clean-up wizard does not work on 64 bit OS.

  • Installing Office Groove 2007 will upgrade your Groove account.
  • No support exists for downgrading or reverting to a previous version of your Groove account after the upgrade process has started.
  • Each computer will need to be upgraded to Office Groove 2007 to run Groove accounts on multiple computers.

Microsoft Groove Server 2007

Microsoft Office Groove Server 2007 is comprised of three, separately installed server applications — Groove Manager, Groove Relay, and Groove Data Bridge.

Microsoft Office Groove Server 2007 Groove Manager

To use Microsoft Office Groove Server 2007 Groove Manager, you will need:

Computer and processor Server computer with 64-bit processor supporting AMD64 or Intel EM64T architectures only; processor speed of 2.0GHz or higher
Memory 2 gigabyte (GB) RAM
Hard disk 40 GB RAID disk array
Drive CD-ROM or DVD drive
Display 1024x768 or higher resolution monitor
Operating system Microsoft Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition SP1 or later
Other 128 kilobits per second (Kbps) for download and activation of products. SQL Server 2000 or later. Microsoft Office Groove Server 2007 Groove Relay or Microsoft Office Groove Enterprise Services. IIS 6.0 for Windows Server 2003. SMTP virtual server. Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 including ASP.NET. LDAP 3.0-based software for directory integration (optional).
Browser Internet Explorer 6.0 or later with service packs and JavaScript, cookies, and forms enabled.

Microsoft Office Groove Server 2007 Groove Relay

To use Microsoft Office Groove Server 2007 Groove Relay, you will need:

Computer and processor Server computer with 64-bit processor supporting AMD64 or Intel EM64T instruction set; processor speed of 1.8 gigahertz (GHz) or higher (AMD) or 2.4 GHz or higher (Intel); single processor dual core configuration is supported, dual processor configuration is recommended
Memory 4 gigabyte (GB) RAM, 8 GB recommended; 8 GB or more recommended when supporting large numbers of users
Hard disk 40 GB for system volume, 73 GB recommended for operating system and the Groove Relay application; 250 GB for data volume, 350 GB recommended; local small computer system interface (SCSI) attached storage; disk rotational speed: 10Krpm minimum, 15Krpm recommended
Drive CD-ROM or DVD drive
Display 1024x768 or higher resolution monitor
Operating system Microsoft Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition SP1 or later
Other Office Groove Server 2007 Groove Manager required for Groove Relay. 128 kilobits per second (Kbps) for download and activation of products.

System volume requirements:
 - volume cluster size: 4 kilobyte (KB) for both the system volume and the data volume
 - volume format: NTFS file system

RAID controller requires high-performance hardware-based caching controller with 64 MB of read cache minimum, write caching controller with battery backup and 128 MB or more of read/write cache minimum.

Disk subsystem performance requires the disk subsystem for the data volume to support a write throughput of 200 kilobytes per second (Kbps) as measured by the provided DBWriteTest tool. See the Groove Relay Administrator's Guide for information on running DBWriteTest.

Compressed and network volumes are not supported for the Groove Relay installation or data directories.

Microsoft Office Groove Enterprise Services

To use Microsoft Office Groove Enterprise Services, you will need:

Computer and processor Internet Explorer 6.01 or later running on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, or Windows Vista.
Display Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution display
Operating system Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack (SP) 2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, or later operating system.2
