Highlight or shade text with color
 
  1. In Page view, at the bottom of the document window, click Design Button image.
  2. Do one or both of the following:

ShowHighlight text with color

  1. Select the letter, word, or block of text that you want to highlight with color.
  2. On the Formatting toolbar, click the arrow for Highlight Color Button image , and then select the color you want.

ShowShade text with color

  1. Select the text that you want to shade with color.
  2. On the Format menu, click Borders and Shading.
  3. Click the Shading tab and do one or more of the following:

    ShowSet a background color for the selected text

    • Select a color in the Background color box.

    ShowSet the color of the selected text

    • Select a color in the Foreground color box.

      Note  The shading applies to the entire line on which the selected text appears. However, you can resize the colored background by clicking on the background and then dragging the sizing handles.
