When you paste a graphic other than a
GIF (GIF: A graphics file format (.gif extension in Windows) used to display indexed-color graphics on the World Wide Web. It supports up to 256 colors and uses lossless compression, meaning that no image data is lost when the file is compressed.) or
JPEG (JPEG: A graphics file format (.jpg extension in Microsoft Windows) supported by many Web browsers that was developed for compressing and storing photographic images. It's best used for graphics with many colors, such as scanned photos.) into a page and then save it,
Microsoft FrontPage automatically attempts to convert the graphic to a GIF if it has 256
bits of color or less, or to a JPEG if it has more than 256 bits of color.
To set the default settings for these file types, do the following:
- On the
Tools menu, click
Page Options, and then click the Picture tab.
- To define the way a file type is converted by default, click
File Type Settings, and then select the options you want.
- Specify the default settings that you want.
