Microsoft Office FrontPageĀ® 2003
|
Your Web page may have only a few seconds to capture the attention of a site visitor before he or she decides to leave that page to search for something they find more interesting or attractive. Whether you are trying to attract site visitors for the first time or refreshing an old site with a new look, by adding professional-looking backgrounds, you can help to make your site's first impression a good one.
You can use color, pictures, or watermarks to create a more interesting background for your Web pages. The brief overview below describes the available background options in FrontPage 2003.
Color
Whenever you want to select a color for a page, FrontPage displays color palettes appropriate for your page. Color palettes include standard colors, which are those colors in the 16-color (Web-safe) palette, and document colors, which are those colors that the current page already specifies.
If the palettes do not display the color you want, you can create a custom color that you can use for backgrounds, fonts, and so on. Any custom colors that you define are saved and will be available the next time you use FrontPage.
You can set a color for your background, as well as for any text you have, including hyperlinks, visited hyperlinks, and active hyperlinks.
For
how-to information about adding a background color to your Web page, see

Pictures
You can set a background picture for a page by using pictures from Web sites, file systems, the World Wide Web, or clip art.

Watermarks
Watermarks are non-scrolling text or pictures that appear behind the other page elements that you place on a Web page.
Note Not all Web browsers support watermarks.

Themes provide backgrounds, too
Themes are another way to make your Web site stand out. A theme is a unified set of design elements and color schemes that you can apply to your Web pages to give them a polished and professional look. Using a theme is a quick and easy way to make sure that your Web site makes a visually cohesive and attractive first impression.
FrontPage includes many complete themes that you can use right away. You also can customize existing themes or create new ones.
