Enable or disable features that require the FrontPage Server Extensions

Microsoft FrontPage® 2002

You can set Microsoft FrontPage 2002 to enable or disable commands that require Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions (FrontPage Server Extensions: A set of programs and scripts that support authoring in FrontPage and extend the functionality of a Web server.) on the Web server (Web server: A computer that hosts Web pages and responds to requests from browsers. Also known as an HTTP server, a Web server stores files whose URLs begin with http://.).

  1. On the Tools menu, click Page Options, and then click the Compatibility tab.
  2. Choose one of the following:

ShowTo design your Web site with features that require the FrontPage Server Extensions

  • Select the Enabled with Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions check box.

ShowTo design your Web site with features that do not require the FrontPage Server Extensions

  • Clear the Enabled with Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions check box.

Note  If you clear this check box, the following items will be unavailable in the Insert Web Component dialog box:

  • Web Search
  • Hit Counter
  • Photo Gallery
  • Top 10 List
  • Confirmation Field
  • List View (also requires a Web server that is running SharePoint® Team Services from Microsoft™)
  • Document Library View (also requires a Web server that is running SharePoint Team Services)
