What You Want to Do

Expected Audience: Intermediate

If you work in a multiple authoring environment, you can create your own custom templates and share them with other authors that are working on the same Web. Anyone who opens the Web can create new pages based on your shared templates, which are listed along with the default templates in the File | New | Page dialog box. These templates can be used for a standard format for pages that you create in Microsoft FrontPageĀ®./p>

Specific Steps to Take

If you have not yet created a template, see How To Create a Custom Template.

To share a template:

  1. In Page view, open your template, and then click Save As on the File menu.
  2. In the Save As Type list, click FrontPage Template (*.tem).
  3. In the File Name box, type a file name for the template, and then click Save.
  4. In the Save As Template dialog box, click Save Template in Current Web.

  5. Click OK. Your template will now appear in the File | New | Page list of templates for anyone that opens your Web with FrontPage.
