Create hyperlinks in Photo Gallery captions

After you create a Photo Gallery using Microsoft FrontPage® 2002, you can add captions and descriptions below your images. You can further customize your Photo Gallery by making hyperlinks within each caption or description. When a Photo Gallery is created, folders and a number of files are automatically created by FrontPage. You can edit one of these files (the file named "real.htm") to add custom hyperlinks within your Photo Gallery.

To create captions or descriptions below your images and add hyperlinks to them, open a new page and create a new photo gallery or open a page with an existing gallery in FrontPage 2002, and do the following in the Normal view:

  1. Right-click anywhere on the photo gallery and click Photo Gallery Properties.
  2. To add captions and descriptions to images in your gallery, select an image from the list under the Add button.
  3. In the Caption and Description text boxes add textfor the image.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each image, then click OK, and save the page.
  5. On the View menu, click Folder List and then click the Photo Gallery folder.
  6. Click on the folder named PhotoXXX (where XXX is a random number).
  7. Clcik the folder PhotoXXX, double click the file, real.htm to open it in Page view.

Note  Do not edit any other .htm files in the "PhotoXXX" folder.

  8. Select the text under an image, right-click it, and select Hyperlink… in the dropdown menu.
  9. In the Insert Hyperlink dialog box, add a URL, click OK, and save the page.

Tip   Viewing the new link using Preview view in FrontPage, will not display links within the Photo Gallery. Preview it in the browser to see the link. To learn how to change hyperlink formatting see, Flexible Formatting of Hyperlinks Using CSS.
