Web sites based on SharePoint™ Team Services from Microsoft use an external cascading style sheet (CSS), ows.css, to apply consistent style information across your SharePoint team Web site. An external CSS contains style definitions that describe the styles you want to apply consistently across an entire Web site. If you decide to change a style, you need only make changes once in the external CSS and all the pages in your web site will reflect these changes.
To modify the ows.css in your SharePoint team Web site, open it with Microsoft FrontPage® 2002 and edit it directly on the server as follows:
- On the Tools menu, select Web Settings and then click on the Advanced tab.
- Select the Show Hidden files and folders check box and click OK.
- When FrontPage prompts you to refresh the Web, click the Yes button.
- In Folder List view, under the _layouts\styles folder, open the file named ows.css.
- On the Format menu, click Style.
- To modify a SharePoint team Web site style, in the List box, click User-defined styles.
- In the Styles box, double-click the style you want to modify (for example: .ms-pagetitle).
- On the Modify Style dialog box, under Style type, choose Paragraph or Character.
Note Some styles may not have this choice.
- Click Format, and then specify the attributes you want to format.
- To set font family, color, or character spacing, click Font and make your changes.
- Close all dialog boxes to return to the CSS and save the file.
