Your web site will have the best Microsoft FrontPage functionality when it is published to a Web server that is running either FrontPage® 2002 Server Extensions or SharePoint™ Team Services from Microsoft. Without the latest server extensions, certain new FrontPage-based Web features will not work. Below are lists of features and components requiring the new server extensions as well as those requiring specific, earlier versions.
The following new features require the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions:
- File Upload
- Custom Link Bars
- Shared border backgroud properties
- Usage Analysis Reports
- Top Ten List Web Component
- New Security Features (user Roles)
Further, without FrontPage Server Extensions, certain other FrontPage-based Web features will not work, such as most form handlers, search forms, site maps organized by category, and hit counters. The following components require at least FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions:
- Database Results Wizard
- Send To Database Form Handler
- Nested sub webs
- Lightweight Source Control (document check-in/check-out without VSS)
- Categories Component
- StyleSheet links to multiple files or ASP files
- Database Interface Wizard
In addition, the following components require FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions or an earlier version:
- Confirmation Field
- Discussion Form Handler
- FrontPage-created server-side image maps
- Hit Counter
- Registration Form Handler
- Save Results Form Handler
- Search Form
- Field Set
Tip To find out what version of FrontPage Server Extensions your Web server is running, contact your server administrator or ISP.
