View Information About a File or Folder in FrontPage 2002

In Microsoft FrontPage®, file properties are details about a file that help identify it for example, a descriptive title, the author's name, the date the file was created, and so on. Folder properties are similar, but also display details about the folder's settings such as whether or not files may be uploaded there.

ShowTo get information about a file

  • In the Folder List, right-click a file and click Properties.

    • To view the file name and title, the type of file (such as Microsoft HTML Document 5.0 or JPEG Image), and the file size and location, click the General tab.
    • To view the date that a file was created or modified and who modified it, or to view comments that have been added to the file, click the Summary tab.
    • To view the categories to which a file belongs, the name of the person or workgroup assigned to the file, or the review or publishing status of the file, click the Workgroup tab.
    • If you want to view errors in a component in a file, click the Errors tab (if one is present).

ShowTo get information about a folder

When viewing folder properties, you can also choose settings (such as whether or not to allow programs or web scripts to run in the folder).
  • In the Folder List, right-click a folder and click Properties.
    • Folder properties include the name of the folder, the number of files or folders it contains, its location, and its size.
    • Folder settings include whether or not to allow programs or web scripts to run in the folder, whether or not the files in the folder should be browseable, and whether or not files can be uploaded to the folder.

Note  If the folder is a document library on a Web site based on SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft, the document library properties are displayed in the Document Library Properties dialog box. In addition to standard folder properties, Document Library Properties settings include options for how to display shared document properties in the browser, who can access the files, whether to use a template for new documents, and so on. For more information on how FrontPage works with SharePoint Team Services, see Working With SharePoint Team Web Sites in FrontPage 2002.
