FrontPage 2002 offers you a variety of ways to view the files and edit your pages in your FrontPage Web site. Each view offers its own advantages when you perform Web site creation, editing, maintenance, and management tasks. Additionally, five panes within Page view are provided for specific types of editing.
The views bar
The Views bar shown by default at the left of the workspace in Microsoft FrontPage lets you switch quickly from one view of your Web site to another. You can choose to show or hide the Views bar, and you can also set the size of the icons on the Views bar.

- Page view allows you to create, edit, and view your Web pages.
- Folders view shows a directory level representation of your Web site and a properties list for each folder or file.
- Reports view enables you run reports for information such as the number and type of images on your page, broken or outdated hyperlinks, or pages that might be slow to load.
- Navigation view shows an overhead look at the structure of your Web site.
- Hyperlinks view presents a visual "map" of the hyperlinks to and from any page in your Web site.
- Tasks view lists the name, priority, status, and other information about each task in the current Web site.
Editing your pages in Page view
When you are in Page view, there are five different panes in which you can edit your pages, and you can navigate between these panes by clicking each pane's button below your page.
- In the Normal pane
you can design and edit the page by inserting text, forms, graphics, and components.
- The HTML pane
displays the HTML of a page and allows you to enter HTML, as well.
- In the Preview pane
, you can preview your page as it will appear to a site visitor.
If you are viewing or editing a frames page in your Web site, Page view has two additional panes tabs:
- No Frames pane
allows you to preview the message that will display in a Web browser that does not support frames.
- Frames Page HTML pane
shows the HTML for the frames page.
The Folder List and the Navigation Pane
When you are working in Page view, there are two ways to get an overhead look at your pages while you're editing them:
Folder List View all the all pages in your Web site in a folder structure
Navigation Pane View only pages that have already been added to the navigation structure
