With the Microsoft Excel Web App, you can embed spreadsheets on websites and blogs and make them interactive. The examples on this page show just a few of the ways you can use the Excel Web App. If you’re looking for something more advanced, check out the Mashups tab.

Create interactive data mashups

You can use Excel Web Apps to embed spreadsheets on websites and blogs, you might also want to get more interactions between those spreadsheets and other web applications or services (for example a Bing Map, or a data source). Using the JavaScript API now available on SkyDrive, web developers can quickly create rich and interactive data mashups powered by Excel Web App.

The Destination Explorer below is an example of a simple mashup a web developer can create for your website or blog to help your readers decide where they should travel and when. This mashup uses the Excel Services JavaScript API and the Bing Maps API.

To try out the mashup, choose the destination you’d like to visit and see what the weather will be like or how many people visit the area during the time you’ll be traveling. To get step-by-step instructions for creating this mashup, read the how-to article on ExcelMashup.com
