    Install Microsoft “Data Explorer” Preview for Excel 2013

    "Data Explorer" is an Excel add-in that enhances the self-service Business Intelligence experience in Excel by simplifying data discovery and access. This preview provides an early look into upcoming features that enable users to easily discover, combine, and refine data for better analysis in Excel. As with most previews, these features may appear differently in the final product.

    Prerequisites:

    • Requires Microsoft Office 2013.
    • Microsoft “Data Explorer” Preview for Excel supports 32-bit or 64-bit machines.
    • Requires Windows Vista (with .Net 3.5 SP1), Windows Server 2008 (with .Net 3.5 SP1), Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7 or Windows 8.

    1. Download & Install Microsoft Office 2013.

    2. Download & Install Microsoft "Data Explorer" Preview for Excel.

    Important: If you are using the 32-bit version of Excel 2013, you must use the 32-bit version of Microsoft “Data Explorer” Preview for Excel. If you are using the 64-bit version of Excel 2013, you must use the 64-bit version of Microsoft “Data Explorer” Preview for Excel. The versions are not interchangeable.

    • Open the folder where you downloaded Microsoft “Data Explorer” for Excel Preview.
    • Double-click the downloaded installer file, and then follow the steps in the wizard.
    • After the installation is complete, click Finish.
    • Microsoft “Data Explorer” Preview for Excel will appear as a new tab in the Excel ribbon.

    1. Download & Install Microsoft Office 2010.

    Important: If you choose a custom installation of the Microsoft Office 2010 Trial, you must install Excel 2010. Otherwise, you will not be able to use Microsoft “Data Explorer” Preview for Excel.

    2. Download & Install Microsoft “Data Explorer” Preview for Excel.

    Important: If you are using the 32-bit version of Excel 2010, you must use the 32-bit version of Microsoft “Data Explorer” Preview for Excel. If you are using the 64-bit version of Excel 2010, you must use the 64-bit version of Microsoft “Data Explorer” Preview for Excel. The versions are not interchangeable.
