Use Format Painter to copy cell formats to other cells
 

You can use Format Painter Button image on the Standard toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and options that you can use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, point to Toolbars on the View menu. If you don't see the button you want, click the arrows at the right end of the toolbar.) to quickly copy the formatting of cells (such as borders, fills, text formats, or number formats) and apply that formatting to other cells.

  1. Select a cell that has the formatting that you want to copy.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • To copy the formatting to a single cell or range of cells, click Format Painter Button image , and then drag the mouse pointer across the cell or range of cells that you want to format.
    • To copy the formatting to several cells or ranges of cells, double-click Format Painter Button image , and then drag the mouse pointer across each cell or range of cells that you want to format. When you're done, either click Format Painter Button image again or press ESC to turn it off.

Tip   To copy the width of one column to a second column, select the heading of the first column, click Format Painter Button image , and then click the heading of the column that you want to apply the column width to.
