Audio course: So that's how! Working with really big worksheets

The Zoom box on the Standard toolbar and a reduced size view worksheet

Click a smaller size in the Zoom box to reduce the view and see the entire range of cells you want to select.

Perhaps you want to select a huge range of data to give it a name, but the range extends beyond the window borders. How do you grab it all? By using the Zoom box, which is useful in other familiar ways too.

You may already know that you can zoom in or out to change your view of a worksheet. Click or type in the Zoom box Button image on the Standard toolbar to change the viewing size from 100% to anywhere from 10% to 400%.

You can also zoom out to make it easy to select a vast range of cells that extends beyond the window borders. Then you can see the entire range you want to select (though you might not be able to read the content within the cells — you can zoom quite a ways out).

Tip     When you zoom below a certain point, 39% or less, the names of named ranges are visible on a worksheet. The zoom level required for the names to be readable will depend on your vision and monitor resolution.
