Keyboard shortcuts and accessibility in Power View in Excel

This article spells out keyboard shortcuts and other accessibility features of Power View in Excel 2013.

There are two versions of Power View: Power View in Excel 2013 and Power View in SharePoint 2013. The shortcuts in this topic only apply to Power View in Excel 2013. Read about Keyboard shortcuts and accessibility in Power View in SharePoint, and about everything else you can do in Power View.

Table and matrix navigation

Resize a table or matrix Shift + Ctrl + arrow keys
Move focus up/down one cell (across all cells in all areas) Up/down arrow
Move focus left/right one cell (across all cells in all areas) Left/right arrow
Move focus and view to first cell in the current row (for each area of the matrix) Home
Moves focus and view to last cell in the current row (for each area of the matrix) End

Chart navigation

Action Keyboard operation

Select a chart in the view and cycle through the parts of the chart in this order:

  1. Chart plot
  2. Legend
  3. Sort by field
  4. Sort in ascending or descending order
  5. Filter
  6. Pop out
Tab

When the chart plot part of the chart has focus, cycle through the data in the chart in this order:

  1. Chart plot
  2. One entire series of data points (data blocks for column or bar charts)
  3. Each data point in that series
  4. Another entire series of data points
  5. Each data point in that series
Right/left arrow

When the chart plot part of the chart has focus, cycle through data in the chart in this order:

  1. Chart plot
  2. One entire series of data points at a time
Up/down arrow
Resize a chart Shift + Ctrl + arrow keys
Select or deselect a data point (single click) Spacebar or Enter
Scroll up to the next set of data points Page Up
Scroll down to the next set of data points Page Down
Scroll left to the next set of data points Ctrl + Page Up
Scroll right to the next set of data points Ctrl + Page Down
Move focus to first set of data points (vertical) Home
Moves focus to last set of data points (vertical) End
Moves focus to 1st set of data points (horizontal) Ctrl + Home
Moves focus to last set of data points (horizontal) Ctrl + End
Axis zoom-in* (25% at a time, center-aligned) Ctrl + up arrow or Ctrl + right arrow
Axis zoom-out Ctrl + down arrow or Ctrl + left arrow

* Axis zooming is for a continuous axis (for example, year or date). You can change an axis to continuous in the ribbon. On the Chart Tools contextual tab, on the Layout tab, click Type, and then click Continuous.
