This article describes the formula syntax and usage of the GAMMALN.PRECISE function (function: A prewritten formula that takes a value or values, performs an operation, and returns a value or values. Use functions to simplify and shorten formulas on a worksheet, especially those that perform lengthy or complex calculations.) in Microsoft Excel.
Returns the natural logarithm of the gamma function, Γ(x).
The GAMMALN.PRECISE function syntax has the following arguments (argument: A value that provides information to an action, an event, a method, a property, a function, or a procedure.):
- X Required. The value for which you want to calculate GAMMALN.PRECISE.
- If x is nonnumeric, GAMMALN.PRECISE returns the #VALUE! error value.
- If x ≤ 0, GAMMALN.PRECISE returns the #NUM! error value.
- The number e raised to the GAMMALN.PRECISE(i) power, where i is an integer, returns the same result as (i - 1)!.
- GAMMALN.PRECISE is calculated as follows:
GAMMALN.PRECISE = LN(Γ(x))
